Al Majeed

Majd, the lexicons say, is greatness that gives rather than greatness that only towers; the root keeps honour and open-handedness in the same three letters.

The two ayat carrying this written form are an oath sworn by the glorious Qur’an at the head of Sūrat Qāf, and the last line of Sūrat al-Burūj, where the vowel on the word attaches it to the Owner of the Throne rather than to the Throne. Glory here keeps company with things that carry something. It is not a distance being kept.
