Al Haqq

Ḥaqq is truth and also what is due — a right, a claim someone holds; the root gives ḥaqīqa, the reality of a thing, and istaḥaqqa, to have a claim on it. What is true and what is owed are one word, which is a whole argument compressed into three letters.

Its written form is among the most frequent in the entire Qur’an — 175 ayat by the app’s count — and most of them are the ordinary word rather than a name: 74 carry bi’l-ḥaqq, “in truth”, describing how something was created or sent down or judged, and eleven say that He is the truth. Twice al-Malik stands before it. Real things stay real when nobody agrees with them.
