Al Hakeem

The same root as al-Ḥakam, and a ḥakīm is not the one who knows most but the one who puts things where they belong — the root’s sense of holding firm becomes, in this shape, an arrangement.

It is the most paired name in the Book: of its 42 ayat al-ʿAzīz stands before it in 29 and al-ʿAlīm in four, and it ends the ayah in 37 of the 42. Seven of them are the line that opens a surah. Wisdom in this root is an order rather than a stock of facts, which is a kinder thing to be living inside of.
